Hello from Scotland!

This Sunday Sojourn has slipped into Monday. I’m home from Tanzania, and if I’m honest, I’m exhausted and feeling the post-trip blues.

I had intended to write something reflective about the trip, my fitness and some changes I want to make. Those thoughts are still there, but I haven’t quite found the words for them yet.

After days of moving from place to place, being outdoors and having something new to discover, I’m back with the washing, thousands of photographs and a head full of stories. There’s plenty I want to share. I just need a little time to catch up with myself.

One thought I’ve brought home is this: there is always an option. In Tanzania, that sometimes meant travelling in the vehicle while others walked, and experiencing a different side of the journey.

Perhaps I can apply that at home too. This week, the option is a shorter letter, a little breathing space, and letting the stories find their way onto the page.

Waking before dawn every day in Tanzania meant enjoying some epic sunrises over vast landscapes, each one different. I’m already missing those mornings as I look out at the grey skies of Scotland.
